Kate (referred to by Magic as Katie and named Flo in the original Italian dub) is the main human protagonist of "Puppy in My Pocket: Adventures in Pocketville."
She was just a normal student until she was accidentally transported to Pocketville one fateful day. With her new German Shepherd puppy, Magic, at her side, she must continue the important task of matching lonely children with new pets until lost kitten Princess Ava can find her way back home.
Kate is the only human who has ever worn the Friendship Heart, just as Magic is the only pet to wear it besides Princess Ava and Eva. While she wears it, she is able to communicate with animals and perform Friendship Ceremonies with the help of the Royal Guards.
In the series finale, her pure heart allows Princess Ava to create a new jewel, the Ocean of Friendship, so that Kate and Magic can visit the Pocket Kingdom whenever they wish.
Depiction in the series
According to the pilot, Kate was originally going to take on a different appearance. Aside from taking on a much younger appearance, appearing to be age seven or eight instead of ten, and her eyes being a more saturated shade of blue, she was going to wear a different outfit. Rather than Magic, she was given Dot as a pet.

Personality
Kate is very intelligent for someone her age.
She is also very family-oriented, being very close to both her parents. Though she didn't mind as much moving cities, her mother's temporary absence was what affected her so much.
When she first stepped foot in Pocketville, she was rather naïve, hesitant, and even awkward at first, though throughout the trials set by the Royal Guards she has managed to show consideration of others, bravery, and deep thinking. However, as there was no way for her to return home until she and Magic found out that Friendship Heart could do so, she would feel great sadness from being separated from both of her parents.
Eventually as she and her companion helped the Guards with finding Princess Ava and completing the puzzle on the Magic Fountain with Friendship Ceremonies to send to children she has met before, Kate's confidence and determination grow.
Appearance
Kate is olive-skinned with long, straight blonde hair, sky blue eyes, and freckles on her cheeks. Her hair is put up into two pigtails whenever she is in her school uniform.
Outfits
She has six outfits that she wears throughout the series.
Her main attire, worn usually while in Pocketville, is consisted of a sleeved pastel pink shirt with a pink camisole, khaki pants, and orange sneakers.
Another outfit, worn in the episode, "The Unexpected Guest", consists of an orange sweater with yellow cuffs and paw print decals, a blue short-sleeved undershirt, khaki pants, and orange sneakers.
Her outfit for the Big City consists of a pink shirt with sleeves ending at the elbows, a fuchsia collar, and a fuchsia and pale pink paw print, a headband that matches the shirt, dark blue denim shorts, and pink sneakers.
In some early episodes, she wears a fuchsia and yellow sun dress.
Her nightwear consists of a fuchsia short-sleeved gown with pink trim, yellow paw print decals, and a pocket near the left leg, pink slippers with fuchsia heart decals, and a pink headband with two fuchsia hearts.
Her school uniform consists of a dark blue and yellow vest, a white dress shirt, a light blue pleated skirt, white knee-high socks with yellow trim, and blue sneakers. She wears blue hair ties holding her hair into two low pigtails and a red heart-shaped barrette.
The swimsuit which she wears in part two of “Sweet Dreams” is pink with light pink and fuchsia paw print decals and fuchsia trim.

Trivia
- Kate's age is inconsistent. On the Italian website, it says that she is eight years old, but on a Kaboom DVD released in the United States, it says that she is ten years old instead.
- The level of math Kate learns in Patience (Part 1), basic division, is often considered appropriate for third grade (Year 4 in the UK), which covers children aged eight to nine.
- However, Kate appears to be a preteen, which makes more sense for her to be ten, while her pilot look fits the age of eight more.
- Despite her name often being a diminutive for the given names Catherine and Kaitlyn (and similar spellings of both), Kate is not referred to by either, even by her parents.
- Kate has an unknown surname.
